With 750+ volunteer hours, our time at the dogs home (Sydney Dogs and Cats Home) in Carlton, Pawfect Dayz was employed as their Maintenance and Logistics Officer at their Strathfield and Austral sites for 15 months.
Our duties included transport of animals between facilities, adoption partners Petstock as well as transport of pets between SDCH and foster carers.
Pawfect was also responsible for repairs and maintenance across the Strathfield and Austral sites. We further constructed kennels at the Austral site and repaired any damage caused by the dogs and cat residents. We also maintained the grounds and gardens at both sites.
As a volunteer I would set up day kennels by providing water, comfortable bedding and toys for enrichment, clean night kennels by removing animal waste, scrub and disinfect kennels, provide water and clean comfortable bedding. We also cleaned and disinfected cat and dog bowls, washed and dried laundry as well as walk the dogs, train and provide enrichment and offer play for dogs along the way.
We have also spent approximately 9 months volunteering with the local veterinary clinic in West Ryde. West Ryde Vets duties included, cleaning and disinfection of the cattery, cleaning and disinfecting holding cages, washing and drying laundry, cleaning surgical equipment and assisting Vets during consultations and procedures.
